Cross the border by code!
For team maycoders, who cross the border by code, an overseas business trip may be something indispensable. Maycoders has been preparing for the main product in earnest since this year, and the team's official overseas business trip has also been enthusiastic!
This time, I would like to introduce the story of our first overseas business trip to the U.S. Las Vegas.
MAYK and Maycoders’ dream stage, U.S.
The U.S. market and U.S. buyers are the most attractive targets that Team Maycorders dreams of since 2021 when they first envision MAYK.
While discussing various ways to knock on the door of the U.S. market, we had the opportunity to participate in the Beauty Keyword Fair as an exhibition company, so we went to Las Vegas on our first group business trip and first overseas fair for Team Maycoders.
Cosmoprof Las Vegas 2022
The fair where Team Maycorders participated as a Korean official exhibition company in Las Vegas, USA, is Cosmoprof North America Las Vegas 2022.
We were able to participate through KOECO, the organizer of Korea, and I could hold a fair with various manufacturers in the Cosmopack section according to OEM/ODM keywords.
Cosmoprof Las Vegas 2022, which lasted for a total of three days, is the largest beauty fair in North America, with a total of 1,167 beauty-related companies participating and more than 32,000 beauty buyers.
The atmosphere felt at the scene was very active and crowded. Our booth was a small thing at the Cosmopack venue, which is far from the main venue, but we also had a total of more than 200 visitors.
We could hear market reactions and stories that were so different from what we were just doing market research.
Insights we got
Thanks to more visitors than expected at the first fair, we had a lot of trouble that we had never experienced before, but we also gained a lot.
The insights that Team Maycoders gained through Cosmoprof Las Vegas 2022, the first meeting with the U.S. market and potential buyers, can be summarized as follows.
Of course, in addition to the big insights below, there were inquiries and requests that were actually helpful to the business, but here, we will only summarize the insights that influenced MAYK's future direction.
1. The process of developing the products should be step by step.
The feedback we received while demonstrating MAYK in the field was more diverse than we thought. Potential buyers' requests and inquiries could be divided into various forms, such as requesting the entire process of OEM or only containers or only contents.
In order to contain detailed requests in the process of completing the product, we thought it would be strategically excellent to analyze the needs obtained in the field and divide the MAYK development and launch step by step.In fact, Team Maycoders is planning to break down the process of developing MAYK by analyzing customer's inquiry data and developing it into a step-by-step complete platform that can solve the most common needs first and then detailed needs.
2. It should be easy and easy.
What surprised us the most was that the buyers evaluated the beta service that we created thinking, "Can it be easier than this?" as difficult.
The "easy" standard should be the standard of the user used, not the standard of the makers, but it seems that when we focus on creating the service, we are often buried in the standards of the makers.
When we watched the users' reactions through beta service at the fair, we also wondered if MAYK service was being made as a maker's standard. We are still fiercely thinking about what UI/UX and business flow are easy for users after our business trip to the U.S.
3. Business First, Customer First
Maybe it's the most obvious and common word, but at the end of the day, what we felt the most was 'Business First, Customer First.
MAYK is actually a service created in the process of digitally transforming the needs of buyers found in the trade deal experience, so rather than applying a business model that fits the technology, it develops the technology needed for the business model that works in the market.
The business trip to the U.S. was a time to confirm that our method works, and once again, to think about what services are needed, not cool services, close to the market and customers.
In conclusion, the market that we imagined while envisioning services and the market that we met in person was very different. A business trip to Las Vegas in the U.S., where we got the most important thing at the most important time.
It's really just the beginning of our entry into the U.S. market, but before that, I think it was a meaningful beginning to get some important insights that could change the overall direction of MAYK.
Please look forward to how MAYK will be reborn as the "most necessary but easiest service for users" in the future!
